I LOVE photographing families. In fact they’ve become my absolute favorite sessions. When I started out in business, I felt most comfortable working one-on-one with a child or even just a newborn. But as I’ve evolved as a photographer/artist, I find that families are my absolute fav. It’s where I feel most comfortable. It’s where I am able to watch members connect. And honestly, I want the family that I’m shooting to be just as comfortable. A photo session should never be stressful during the actual session. If it is, something is OFF! It needs to be FUN. If it’s stressful you will end up with images that reflect just that!
I’ve been shooting this family for at least four years now (maybe five). Because of that, we’ve become great friends. I love that Dori takes a three hour trip to meet me at an orchard in the middle of nowhere. Now, that’s sacrifice! In fact, they probably didn’t even get home much before midnight and yet she’d probably do it all over again! That’s my girl!
I took way too many photos during this session…. it’s a problem. When I talked to Dori to see how she liked them she commented on how her daughter Lauren (below) said “I just love Jen”….. that about made me cry! She loves that I take photos of her being her!
