meant to be a mommy | noblesville indiana newborn photographer

Finally, I am posting this stinkin’ cute newborn session. I think Hudson is probably walking by now! But seriously, I loved this session. Shala was a full time nanny for several years before becoming a mother. She had so much experience with babies, toddlers and multiples under her sleeve.  I can’t even imagine how much more comfortable she felt holding her baby than I did as a first time mother.

I was more than thrilled to do her session because Shala is a beautiful person both inside and out. She is the type of person you could hang out and laugh with all day and never get bored. But what I also LOVE is how creative she is. Her home is certainly filled with many treasures. She purchases most of her decor from thrift stores and garage sales. She then turns them into something magnificent because she sees the full potential. I love how she lives with such simplicity while making it a work of art. It also makes my job very easy because truth be told…. I am NOT a prop junkie! I don’t have a ton of props filling up my closet. In fact, most people would be surprised to know that I carry almost nothing but my camera to my sessions and that includes newborns. I like to fly by the handle….. to find something interesting in a client’s home that has significance and then use it for a prop in the session. Outside of that…. I’m pretty prop-less! 🙂 Sometimes I feel like I should be hoarding more “things” to bring to sessions but I’m also pretty sure that it’s what makes my style unique.

Hudson is already a very well documented baby. His momma has a thing for photos and truly enjoys capturing ALL his growth behind the lens. Check out her blog {I Kiss My Dog on the Lips} to see how she does it and to get some creative inspiration!

Now, onto the most important subject….. baby Hudson!

In anticipation of Hudson, Shala picked up a new letter each week of her pregnancy. Some she purchased ready to hang, but the majority she decorated by hand!

Below left is a chalkboard from Hudson’s room. I had an “ADD” moment where I thought it would be fun to send a photo out for a Halloween card. Below right was another ADD moment….. “Hey, can we use Hudson’s curtains”….. so we did! Talk about personalized. Not sure that taking her son’s curtains down for the day was on the agenda but it worked!
